My Heart Skipped Photography was started by Lucy Williams, a London portrait photographer with over a decade of experience of photographing people in everyday places. Lucy began as a portrait painter and went on to become a film location manager, and now brings it all together with a unique eye for light and location, and a great skill for putting people at their ease and bringing out their sparkle.
Lucy has worked with people all over the world, including celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Damian Lewis and Annie Lennox, and has been published in Vogue, Grazia, and in national press.
Her true love lies in working with ‘regular’ people to create fantastic portraits, capturing not just what they look like, but who they are. Lucy works with people in love, and people looking for love, and her portraits have transformed her clients’ online dating experience.
My Heart Skipped Photography is based in London and shoots throughout the UK and overseas.
Hello, that’s me in the photo. You’ll often find me in a coffee shop, in fact most of my portrait sessions begin in one ~ I find it the very best way to start to get to know you, and to relax, before your shoot begins.
My first love is photography, and I also love to travel. I’ve been all over the world with what I do; from teaching photography to young people in Kenya, Armenia and Albania, to shooting beautiful weddings in Italy, Mexico and Australia. For me there’s nothing more exciting than getting to meet new people, explore new places, and experience different communities and cultures.
When I’m not being a photographer I’m a ‘passion project’ creator. Since 2015 I’ve created the NOWportrait project, the Kindness Project and Kindness Bags UK. They’re all projects that build connections between people and create opportunities to spread love.
I can’t wait to find out more about you. Capturing what makes you YOU is what inspires me!
“It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are” ~ Paul Caponigro
I specialise in natural portraits and at helping people feel relaxed in front of the camera. When you forget about the camera, and when the looks and smiles and laughs you give are real, that’s magical. I aim to create a space where you can let go, have fun and be yourself.
Whether you book as an individual or as a couple I’ll work with you using playful techniques and some creative direction to help you really feel at ease. I also tell ‘hilarious’ jokes on shoots, you’ve been warned…
Natural ‘connected’ lifestyle potraiture
Portraits that work brilliantly for online dating, and social media profiles
On location portraits sessions in London and beyond
A 1-2-1 experience from beginning to end
Every session is ‘experiential’ and the shoot is just as much a part of the experience as having great photos
My first ever online dating photo client had been on online dating for a long while, and though she’d had quite a few dates, she just wasn’t ‘clicking’ with the men she was dating. After her shoot she put her new photos online and within a few weeks she met someone, fell in love and they are together to this day.
My next client put his new photos up and within a day had two dates lined up for that weekend.
My third client went from having three dates a month to having three dates a week. And is now marrying the woman he met in the weeks after adding his new photos.
I was mind blown!
I’d been on online dating myself for the previous two years with little luck and I really believed that internet dating was A SLOG, but my clients were meeting great people really quickly. This pattern continued with the next client, and the next, and the next…
I now offer online dating profile portraits as the main part of my service. AND I LOVE IT. It really isn’t how you look that wins you dates but the connection you have with the person on the other end of your dating app. I love working with people to create that connection and to capture it in their photos.
Great online dating photos can totally transform your experience of online dating, and can significantly speed up the process of finding someone amazing. This year I’ll be photographing my client’s wedding and I’m thrilled for them, they’re so happy. It really does work!
A bride & groom I photographed recently said that I captured *how it felt* on the day as well as what it looked like. If that sounds like something you’d like too then let’s chat.
