11.04.2012 Christening Photography | St Sophia’s | Bayswater, London
Adorable. That’s definitely the word I would use to describe this baby girl and her family and friends, who all helped her celebrate her christening at the beginning of Easter week. The ceremony took place at St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Bayswater. It’s gorgeous for christening photography – beautifully decorated and just check out the ceiling! I love the traditions and rituals of church ceremonies and this Greek Orthodox ceremony was fascinating and an absolute joy to photograph. Readings were said for baby Alexa, before she was undressed and wrapped in a towel. Her Godmother helped prepare the font and then bathed Alexa then she was lowered inside three times and anointed by the priest. She was delightful and took it all in her stride.
Once Christened she was placed in her Godmother’s arms and dressed in a gorgeous dress with the sweetest little slippers and a traditional hat to cover her head. More prayers were said and lots of congratulations were offered to her very proud family.
The celebrations continued with a tulip and fairy themed lunch at The Bluebird Restaurant in Chelsea.
Congratulations to proud parents Froso and Marco and thank you so much for inviting me to share Alexa’s special day xx
